The more interaction I have with people who tout their high IQs, the more I'm enamored of the virtue of common sense over the accident of nature that endows some people with the ability to score high on IQ tests.
After some back-and-forth over the past two days with a person who advertises their MENSA membership as something worthy of admiration, they stated that they did not believe my explanation for my motivation for actions that I took because I did not take a specific action, an action that, had I taken it, would have been completely at odds with both my stated motivation and, more important, my stated goal in taking the actions I took. My correspondent then took the action I wanted them to take, so I simply agreed with them that they were "right" and that I was "wrong" and left it at that. However, it's obvious that the inability to read with full comprehension and/or to think logically is not confined to the allegedly "stupid."
Or maybe it is. In Mexican slang, "mensa" means "stupid woman."
